Marilyn Hobbs of Pryor Retires From RCB Bank

Marilyn Hobbs, customer service representative, 22 years with RCB Bank

Pryor, Oklahoma Marilyn Hobbs, RCB Bank customer service representative and long-time employee, retires at the end of this year. Please join us as we celebrate her 22 years of service from 9-11 a.m. Friday, December 27 at RCB Bank’s Pryor downtown location, 222 SE First St.

Hobbs joined RCB Bank as a part-time teller in 1997 and has worked or assisted in nearly every department over the years. In 2000, she was promoted to new accounts, where she still serves today.

“Since I have worked this department so long, I was appointed as new account mentor to train others and was a go-to person for IRA questions from other branches,” Hobbs said.

She recalls the many changes over the years, from printing signature cards and CDs on the Swintec typewriter, “which jammed every time you tried to print,” to now doing most everything on an iPad.

She has made many friends with employees and customers, stating, “This is the downfall of retirement, not being able to keep up with everyone.”

In retirement, Hobbs is looking forward to sleeping in a little later, but admits after so many years her body clock says wake up at 6:45 a.m.

“I am planning to get my house organized, cook my husband some meals and spend time in my sewing room on the new machine I recently purchased.”

She is also planning to do some traveling to National Parks with her husband, Harold. Their first trip is to California Sequoia National Park and then to Oregon to visit family. She is also looking forward to spending more time with her eight grandchildren, ranging in ages 5-21.

Her parting wisdom: “Let your attitude be of Christ today. Be positive, not moody; be joyful, not cantankerous; be encouraging, not negative. Display Him today, don’t make it be about yourself.”

RCB Bank Pays It Forward

RCB Bank donates to the Cowley County Community Health Center Pay-It-Forward Fund.

Winfield Community Health Center

Just ahead of the holiday season, RCB Bank this week generously donated $1,500 to the Community Health Center in Cowley County’s Pay-It-Forward Fund.

The purpose of this internal fund is to ensure that medically underserved patients receive quality health care by bridging relatively small cost-gap disparities. The continual disbursement of this fund supports payment of underserved patient’s medical care costs such as life-saving drugs. These disparities, although minor in cost, many times have consequential impacts on the health outcomes of an underserved patient. This fund is only for the benefit of those whom make the health center their medical home. Medically underserved is defined as a patient who is uninsured or underinsured and/or whose annual income is less than 200% of the current federal poverty level.

Individuals and groups may contribute to the Pay-It-Forward Fund by visiting or mailing donations to the Community Health Center in Cowley County at 221 W. 8th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas, 67156. You should earmark your gifts towards this effort by noting “Pay-It-Forward” in the memo. The health center, through the Legacy Regional Community Foundation, also maintains an endowed fund for specialty care.

RCB Bank Supports Winfield Food Pantry

More than 200 pounds of peanut butter collected & donated by RCB Bank officers and employees.

RCB Bank Food Pantry Donation 11.2019

RCB Bank officers and employees have been busy collecting jars of peanut butter! They recently donated more than 200 pounds of peanut butter to the Winfield Food Pantry and Joseph’s Storehouse, along with a check for $2,000.

RCB Bank’s core values are relationships, community and boldness and during the months of October and November, employees were challenged to collect 100 pounds of peanut for the Food Pantry. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the U.S., 1 in 9 people worldwide live with chronic hunger.  In the U.S. alone, 1 in 7 people do not have enough to eat. RCB Bank Market President Gregg Conklin wasn’t surprised when employees crushed the goal.

“RCB Bank employees care deeply about the communities they live in,” Conklin said. “When it comes to supporting others, be it the Winfield Pantry, Joseph’s Storehouse, CASA or local schools, RCB Bank employees are some of the most generous with their time, talents and treasures.”

Why did we donate peanut butter?

“So many of us love peanut butter for its great taste, nutrition or just for the wonderful childhood memories we get when we bite into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,” Conklin responded. “Many do not realize that peanut butter helps make ends meet for thousands of people who use food banks in the United States, and that peanut butter is also part of life-saving treatment for malnourished children. RCB Bank is proud to support community organizations like the Food Pantry.”

Beware of Netflix scam

Share this with everyone you know!

Netflix scam alert

There is a new sophisticated Netflix phishing attack you need to watch out for. They start out very pleasant, saying they have some trouble with your billing info, and pretty please with sugar on top need you to update your payment details. But if you fall for it, they will try to steal your login details, your credit card data, your picture and your ID!

Think Before You Click!

  • Never click on a login link or an account verification link in an email. If there is one, bail.
  • Check for the green HTTPS padlock. If there isn’t one, bail.
  • If there is a padlock, check the name of the site. If it’s not exactly what you expect, bail.
  • Don’t ignore telltales such as spelling and grammar errors. If it looks wrong, bail.
  • Guard your ID closely. If you’re asked for a selfie or ID when it isn’t absolutely necessary, bail.

Let’s take a closer look.

(Note the simple trick, right there in the subject line, of not spelling out the brand-theft text “Netflix” exactly: the crooks wrote the X as the Greek letter chi, so that Netflix came out as Netfli?.)

Next, you wind up here and that’s where they steal your credentials. But wait, there’s more…

Next, they steal your credit card data:

And trying to keep you on the hook, they throw in a Verfied by VISA page:

Then to add insult to injury, they make you confirm your identity by taking a selfie holding your identity card. Yikes!

An Apple scam is also going around.

Watch out for emails from Apple stating “someone has logged into your Apple ID from an unknown device.” It’s not real.

Stop. Look. Think. Don’t be fooled.
